NEWSLETTER –
CHRISTMAS, 2003
We can hardly believe Christmas is really here again – but
every year we seem to feel like that.
We have finished our last show for the year and
congratulations to the team of riders and horses because they come home from
every show with firsts and Champions. It was very gratifying because, with
Lindy pregnant in the beginning of the year and later a baby to look after, the
number of shows we could do was limited and performances for Sydney Royal are
very demanding with so many Open Classes and Breed sections to gain performances
in. So well done everyone.
A special congratulations to our pupils who have done so
well this year, to Brooke Higgins of Queensland who
is leasing our pony Marena Sweet Kiss who at Brisbane Royal this year did so
well, to Jodi & Ben Maytom who had wonderful shows
at Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane and to Nellie Evans
at Canberra and Bathurst Royals. They will all be competing at Sydney Royal in
2004 along with the 10 horses and 11 pupils we have entered.
Kath Jones is highly excited
by her good news received lately. Her Warmblood mare Vashti won top in the
State for Hacking. Vashti went from Bronze to Gold in one year. But that was
not all; she was also Runner-up in the State for the Led section. Congratulations
Kath.
It has been a quite extraordinary year for 9 year old
Sarah McMillian who at the Australian Youth Jumping
Festival in September 2003 won – the Pony Grand Prix under 18 years on her pony
Thunder and on her other pony Classic Art was 2nd in the Child Grand
Prix under 14 years. At the NSW Titles in October Sarah was first on Classic
Art. A marvellous result for a nine year old. Her Showjumping family, John and
Cath McMillan must be very proud of her.
Sarah has also become very
keen on showing and has been attending Shows with Lindy
and our team of horses for over 12 months. Sarah
first came to us and did a Three day School when she was only 5 years. This
year she has been riding Marena Blue Skies, Marena Skylights, Marena Windflower
and Marena Sweet Kiss in riding classes, Pony Hacks, Show Hunters and all the
breed classes with great success winning Champions and Reserve Champions. We
find Sarah a very dedicated pupil and we are sure
she has a big future.
The last lessons for the year will be
on Thursday 18th December 2003. There will be no lessons then
until school resumes on Tuesday 27th January, 2004. However, I know
that some who have not been riding all that long may want lessons over the
holiday period so some bookings may be made from 12th January 2004.
School Dates
- This year we will not be able to have three days before Christmas but we will
run a Two Day School on Fri-Sat. December, 19th & 20th and Three Day
School on Mon-Tues-Wed, January 19th, 20th & 21st.
Please make your bookings early so that we may reserve your
favourite horse.
